VP of Robotic Operations

Deus X Defense (DXD) reveals what others cannot see. We transform uncertainty into clarity and danger into control. With drones, awareness technology, and unmatched defense expertise, we give organizations foresight and speed to protect what matters most.

Our team of elite military, law enforcement, and technology veterans help customers move from vulnerability to assurance by outpacing threats before they surface. We deliver the confidence that people and assets are protected with intelligence that identifies, confirms, and responds to threats within seconds.

Mission

We exist to protect what matters most: Those people, places, and institutions that make our way of life possible and enable people to go about their life without the tyranny of determined and unchecked evil.

Vision

Our vision is to deliver a future where fear and terror are no longer viable because intelligent systems, governed by human judgement, operating under our legal frameworks stand ready to identify and deter/stop violence before it occurs.

Position Overview

We're seeking a VP of Robotic Operations who has lived through the beautiful chaos of startup hypergrowth while building and scaling robotic operations centers, drone fleet management, or autonomous systems operations. You understand the art of building operational excellence with limited budgets while managing the unique challenges of coordinating multiple autonomous systems in real-time.

Mission-Critical Role Scope

Core Mission: Own the complete operational lifecycle of our autonomous security systems while building the Remote Security Operations Center (RSOC) that serves as the command and control hub for coordinating drones, robots, edge analytics, and human operators across multiple customer sites simultaneously.

The Robotics Reality: You'll be building a next-generation ROC (Robotic Operations Center) that goes beyond traditional RPA bots—managing physical autonomous systems in dynamic, high-stakes security environments. This means 24x7 monitoring of drone fleets, coordinating ground robots, managing edge device analytics, and ensuring human operators can effectively control multiple systems with sub-30-second response times.

Key Responsibilities

RSOC Development & Operations

  • Design and stand up a Remote Security Operations Center (RSOC) — a 24/7 command hub coordinating autonomous drones, ground robots, and edge devices across multiple customer sites.

  • Establish real-time monitoring for drone and robotic fleet operations, including BLoS (Beyond Line of Sight) missions, patrol routes, and emergency responses.

  • Build incident response workflows that enable remote operators to coordinate multiple autonomous systems during threat scenarios (“puppet master” coordination model).

  • Create operational dashboards and alerting systems providing real-time situational awareness across all deployed assets.

Autonomous Systems Fleet Management

  • Lead deployment and lifecycle management of integrated drone and robot fleets across customer sites, including positioning, charging, and maintenance logistics.

  • Build scalable fleet management processes that grow from 10 systems to 1,000+ across multi-site customer environments.

  • Develop mission planning, patrol coordination, and emergency deployment procedures for autonomous security assets.

  • Establish maintenance and field support protocols to maximize system uptime and reliability.

Customer Deployment & Training

  • Oversee end-to-end deployment of integrated autonomous security systems, partnering with customer security teams to define operational workflows.

  • Develop customer training programs to prepare on-site security staff for collaboration with autonomous systems during routine and emergency operations.

  • Create deployment playbooks that enable rapid site setup and consistent integration while maintaining compliance and security standards.

  • Define customer success metrics and reporting that demonstrate performance and ROI of deployed systems.

Team Building & Operational Excellence

  • Build a lean, high-performance operations team blending traditional SOC/GSOC expertise with robotics operations knowledge.

  • Define and track performance metrics for human-to-machine efficiency (e.g., operator-to-robot ratio).

  • Establish processes that automate routine tasks while preserving human oversight for critical security decisions.

  • Develop strategic partnerships with robotics OEMs (e.g., Boston Dynamics and others) to advance product integration, service, and deployment capabilities.

Required Experience
  • 8–12 years in operations leadership, including 5+ years managing robotic systems, drone fleets, or autonomous operations centers.

  • Robotics Operations Center (ROC) / Operations Center Experience: Built and operated robotics operations centers, drone fleet management systems, or autonomous vehicle monitoring centers.

  • Startup Operations Experience: 4–6 years building operations from the ground up in startup or scale-up environments, with an understanding of resource constraints, rapid iteration, and scaling challenges.

Preferred Experience
  • Real-Time Systems Coordination: Coordinated multiple autonomous systems in live operational environments—drones, robots, or automated industrial systems.

  • Fleet Management: Managed operational fleets of 20+ autonomous systems, including maintenance scheduling, deployment coordination, and performance optimization.

  • Technology Operations: Experience managing IoT devices, edge computing, or industrial automation systems in active operational settings.

  • Field Operations Management: Deployed and supported complex technology systems across multiple distributed sites and field teams.

  • Customer-Facing Operations: Managed operations directly tied to customer satisfaction, SLAs, and contractual performance commitments.

  • Drone Operations Platforms: Familiarity with drone fleet management software (e.g., DroneDeploy, AirHub, Aloft, FlyFreely) and understanding of BLoS operational requirements.

  • Robotics Systems: Working knowledge of ROS (Robot Operating System), robot coordination, and autonomous navigation systems.

  • Monitoring & Analytics: Experience with real-time dashboards, performance analytics, and alert management platforms.

  • Communication Systems: Understanding of secure communications and networked system reliability.

  • SOC/GSOC Experience: Exposure to Security Operations Centers, physical security operations, or critical infrastructure protection workflows.

  • Emergency Response Coordination: Familiarity with emergency protocols and rapid response coordination across multi-site operations.
